Upgrade

Postby Rockfish » Mon Aug 08, 2011 12:14 am

The long-needed upgrade to the board has now been done. :)

(Just in case you were wondering why things looked a little different!)

Apologies that it was necessary to do it without much warning!

It's possible there may be some minor issues. If anyone is reading this as a guest because their password doesn't work, then the easiest thing to do is use the 'forgot password' function. Apparently they don't always transfer properly when converting the board.

Hopefully the upgrade will have gotten rid of some of the glitches with the old board, but there will probably need to be a few adjustments made initially.

Also... if you have a direct link to the board, you will need to update it (assuming you've found it from the main site link!).

Sean

I keep getting:

General Error
Unable to remove files within ./cache/. Please check directory permissions.

I have to click the refresh button to get the page to load.
Is this just a Firefox issue at the moment or something at my end? (not tried the board with IE yet)

I did that last night with no change. I've just done it again.......and it sort of works, but I'm still getting the error message (just not with every action)

Edit - Cancel that. I'm still getting it with every action

If I delete the board cookies, I can access all the boards - but as soon as I try to post it goes back to getting the error message and the whole process of refreshing each page starts again.

I get the same error too.

Had a google of the error and possibly related to the Cache directory permissions on the server:

Hope it's fixed soon :-)

OK, the cache issue should be fixed now.

also what was the need to update the forum (if it aint broke dont fix it- comes to mind lol)

That's the thing, the old one was broken! A number of functions weren't working properly (such as the quote function above), and there were a couple of minor issues with certain browsers. The older version was no longer supported with bug fixes, security updates and newer features.

There will be a few settings that need optimising on this version, but hopefully no major issues.

You have changed the URL from phpBB to phpBB3

I would change this back ASAP or you will loose all your google traffic.

You can get the active topics link working in the ACP by going to /acp/forums/ and in each forum settings 'show in active topics'
If you need any help send me a PM :cheeky:

Or if you want a theme making for the forum PM me
