attack of the blood parrots

Postby billberet » Sat Mar 31, 2012 9:52 pm

WOW, just got a new parrot for my tank, to be a mate for my existing parrot, which is the size of a softball! very LARGE.
needless to say WOW, the new parrot that i purchased has been a punching bag, i was hoping the would pair off, but my parrot is acting like a gang member!
it's a 90gal tank, 3 tiny barbs (non issue) and my 2 parrots.

i know how she got this way, she origionally paired off with my redtail cat-they would eat goldfish together!
yea i said it, GOLDFISH. the damn thing barely fit in the parrots mouth, the tail of the goldfish would hang out the front, made my parrot look like she was sticking her tongue out.
after the redtail died my parrot's fins turned black at the tips, and on the bottom of her lip.
i know the 'black spot' disease is common, and comes based on their mood, or water condition.

or maybe she is spawning? seems to be digging burrows alot and sitting in the middle of them.

has anyone ever made a parrot, NON-AGRESSIVE?

After I gave my parrot a time out, things seemed to settle down.
Took a few hrs of no light to bring down the aggression.
Hopefully they will pair off!

wishful thinking, damn parrot ate 1 barb adn 1 tri color shark.
this thing will eat whatever is put in his mouth.

i think it's time to exchange him for more 'peaceful' fish!
