Pictus Injury.

Postby Rio18029 » Tue Jan 10, 2012 10:58 pm

Hi. I found my Pictus Catfish in between some rocks the other day, I thought he was just hiding but it later transpired that the silly sod had gotten stuck. I managed to move the rock and he swam away. When I came home yesterday he had somehow lost one complete feeler and the other was down to an inch long. Today that one has gone too and so have the ones around his mouth and his dorsal fin looks to be tatty. He is in the tank with 15 Malawi Cichlids and has been for 6 or 7 months and hes not being bullied. Is It possible he is self harming? Do they re-grow? Thanks.

Although you say he is not being bullied, I suspect he is and something chased him into that spot where he jammed. With a bit of luck his feelers will regrow but I think it depends on how close to the body they snapped off.
