Synodontis eupterus & Cardinal Tetras

Postby Cichlid Newbie » Mon Apr 02, 2012 4:20 pm

Hi, I added 7 cardinal tetras to my tank Thursday just gone and had in there a Synodontis eupterus, three Puntius titteya and a Gibbiseb plec. I have been away for 3 days (they were being fed by family) and on my return I only had two cardinals left. I found 3 half eaten and the other two I can only imagine that they were cleared up by the fish. Out of the fish listed would any of them attack the tetras. I am thinking the Synodontis is the culprit but not sure. Any help would be great.

It could be down to something simple, like weak Cardinal stock.
Did you test/do a water change before or after adding them?
How long has your tank been set up?

I've had many Synos over the years, and have never known them attack other fish.
All the advice I give is based on my own personal 30 years of experience.
