Common or bristlenose?!?

Postby beaujacob17 » Sun Sep 07, 2014 9:23 am

Hi everyone!
I bought what I thought was an albino bristlenose yesterday, then when i got it home i put a pic up on Facebook, then people told me that it was in fact a common, then other people told me it was a young female bristlenose!!
Now I am unsure, as I am a novice fishkeeper!
If someone could identify it for me I would be very greatful, if it is a common then i cannot keep it in my tank as its only 70l!
I cant seem to upload a photo! Will keep trying though!
Many thanks

If you haven't got the photo uploaded anywhere that you can link it from here, you might be able to upload/share it on The Tropical Tank Facebook page?

Having looked at the pic on Facebook, I'm afraid it does appear to be a juvenile albino common plec. The head shape is much more rounded on a bristlenose, and the scale plates on the side are different.

It will be ok for several months at least, but it's going to need a bigger home at some point. :(
