Ornate Bichir making a break for it...

Postby moocowmoneybox » Sun Aug 07, 2011 2:00 pm

Last night i was watching TV and heard some really strange noises come from the room where the tank and Guinea Pigs are, as i looked into the room I saw the curtains moving.
I thought that one of the Guinea pigs had managed to scale the fence around their area but after a few mins of investigation I saw that our 16" Ornate Bichir (Spotty) was lying on the carpet behind the guinea pig cage.

Spotty had got some hay and sawdust on her but was still moving, I went and got a couple of nets then retrieved her and put her back in the Rio 400.

I looked at the tank and think she must have pushed the corner of the rear flap, found out that it lifted and then carried on going for it. I now have a lamp on that corner of the tank lid (to weigh it down)

Today she is prowling about the tank as if nothing had happened.

Perhaps she just likes the idea of live food

Glad she's ok though :D

i was wondering if she was after the guinea pigs as well

anyway gonna keep a close eye on her for a few days just to ensure that she doesn't show signs of issues, hell of a drop from the top of a Rio400 on its proper stand (over 4ft)
