Not sure why this old post got missed at the time, but for the benefit of anyone else reading it...
I'd usually recommend feeding beefheart only sparingly, (if at all, as there are plenty of alternatives). As a mammalian meat it wouldn't be part of the diet of most fish, and many may find it hard to digest properly. Beefheart does seem to give excellent growth rates but many believe it will shorten the lifespan if fed regularly (just liking eating lots of red meat might do for humans!).
Reedfish are quite easy to feed anyway, they will eat lots of meaty foods like bloodworm, krill, chopped mussel, prawn, cockle or baitfish and also sinking foods like catfish pellets.
