Postby David » Sat Jun 16, 2007 11:58 am

I was looking at some pics that were taken about a year ago and wow my loach has grown loads. I got her about 1.5 years ago at about 1..5", now she's easily 6", approaching 7" i think...

That's a lot of growing! What size tank is it? What else is in there? What size can they reach?

This is quite a long story!

Lets see, about year and a half ago i decided i want another tank to rehome my goldies in and i just wanted a decent tank. lol

I'd been very much into my pond keeping until then.
The tank is(now a quarentine and in garage, but small community later on) 30"x12"x12"
which is way to small for weather loaches and goldfish anyway.
So i put 2 goldies in there and that went to 6 goldies(EEK)!
Then i wanted something else so i bought 5 zebra danios and a weather loach(even more eek).
That turned to 7 danios and a giant moth catfish when the goldfish went outside into the larger pond(boy thats an even longer story, just look here).
The giant moth cat finally died after there was a rise in nitrate(very sensitive to nitrAte)

So it came to 7 danios and 1 weather loach.
I was getting a rio 400 in a few weeks and was understocked and i got a geophagus brasiliensis from Sue (diademhill on the TTF)
They didn't get on well so we eventually got them moved to the rio 400.
Things have settled a little but Henry(the geo) is still a bit stropy. lol
I wouldn't reccomend anything smaller than 4ftx18"x18" for them!

Have alook at this profile i made...

:D :D They are very special creatures. Ping, Pong and Percy all lived to be over 12 years and they had such character.

Put your hand in front of the glass, we'll still be able to see the relative size  :D
