Pond Vac

Postby mercury » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:51 pm

Couple of questions about cleaning a garden pond:

Pond vacs..are they any good and any one able to recommend one?

If you use a pond vac, would it suck up newts etc as I have quite a few
swimming arround in the pond?

Thanks

Blagdon's Pond Monsta is a good one, as is the Oase Pondovac 4. They're top-of-the-range types and you can get plenty of cheaper, basic types (some of which may be less reliable). Whatever you do, don't bother with those awful hosepipe attachment 'pond vacuums'; they don nothing other than pumping chlorinated mains water into your pond and kicking up great clouds of sediment.
I like 'drab fish'; I just don't see them as drab!
