Koi are illegal in my country but I have seen them feed when overseas. They certainly are greedy!

Sorry for going slightly off topic - but why are Koi ilegal in NZ?

Because they are very destructive towards our native flora and fauna. They pretty much destroy all the plants and kill all the native fish. As we have many unique plants and fish, it is important to preserve them and their habitat.
They used to be legal and ended up in many rivers and ponds. Waikato district has a bow shooting contest where people can compete to shoot as many koi as possible.

well its illegal in this country to dump non native fish into our rivers and lakes too
sadly irresponsable people just dont think and its the poor fish that suffer in the end
