Set-up idea

Postby tferguso » Sun Jan 15, 2012 3:54 pm

Inspired by two recent articles in TFH, I'm thinking of a 20-gallon long temperate set-up, shallow substrate, decorated with river stones, no plants, power filter and a heater set very low.
The livestock I'm thinking of:
1 dozen mixed White Clouds (gold and natural)
1 lionhead goldfish
Columbian ramshorn snails (they're not likely to breed in a temperate setting.
As you can see, I'm aiming for a Chinese theme. While the goldfish would get large, raising it from a small size with the White Clouds may make it so used to them that it won't see them as a meal. Of course, a lionhead may not be able to catch the White Clouds, but I don't want them to live with too much stress.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Thanks.

I doubt the lionhead could move fast enough to catch the white clouds. I have seen them in with big long finned or short bodied goldfish and they are fine. I would not put them with a short finned or longer bodied goldfish type though.

Thanks for the response, Carylnz. I'm with you in wanting to avoid faster-moving goldfish. The fact that you've seen them together is encouraging.
