Hello from a Newbie

Postby Bruffy » Mon Sep 24, 2007 11:21 pm

Hi all,

I bought a tank (2nd hand) - an Aqua One AR-620T if that means anything to anyone.

I set it up a few weeks ago and bought my first fish this weekend, after getting the Ph level right and temp correct. Anyway, before any fish were put in, the tank was crystal clear, but now 3 days after putting fish and 3 plants in, i have noticed a whitish coloured film on the inside of the glass, which is difficult to get rid of. i have a magnetic cleaner but that doesnt seem to get rid of it, and a scour type scraper and that is having difficulty getting rid of it. Does anyone think I have done anything wrong? The fish seem happy and are settling in ok, but the film is a bit unsightly
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

did you clean the tank before setting it up?

thanks Chaoz, i gave it a wipe down inside but didnt use any cleaning products, worried about chemicals etc. I have just done an ammonia test and that came up clear, but reading up on this forum, looks like i need to get a nitrite testing kit. Strange thing is, the whiteish film only came after i had put fish and plants in, its not too bad, just worried about it getting worse as the days go on.
