Shrimps- hiding or an expensive snack?

Postby Scubee » Tue Aug 14, 2012 4:21 pm

I have gold neon tetras, black phantoms ans a couple of bristlenoses.

I thought that the addition of a few shrimp (red cherry and chrystal red) would be ok, but either they are very shy and all but 2 have gone into hiding, or they have been eaten, or they just died.

None of the fish appear aggressive enough to have eaten them, and there are quite a few hiding places in the tank.

Before I think about replacing them, which is more likely?

I did have a few problems with ammonia, but the tank tests great now.

hi Scubee

i have had a similar problem with my african dwarf frogs but have now realised that they are all there, i am not sure if they act in a similar ways to shrimps or not but i would reccomend leaving it a week or so as they most probably are there, but if there is still no sign of them after a week then you should think about introducing new shrimps

hope this helped :D
