160 Litre Tank - the next step, which livestock, snail issue

Postby justanotherdave » Wed Aug 15, 2012 3:01 am

I have a 160 litre tank (100x40x40) which is 6 months old. I've set the tank up with some lovely community fish and am looking to add some more...
6 Harlequin Rasboras, 5 Neon Tetras, 4 Glass Cat Fish, 3 Sunset Platies, 3 Guppies, 2 Ember Tetras, 1 Silvertip Tetra
Some of the fish, substrate, and equipment, came from a friend of mine, along with some snails! I don't mind the snails but they are kind of taking over. So, I was thinking of getting something that will eat them. I've heard Loaches eat snails but they're quite big and I'm not sure I've got enough room for a shoal. I've heard of Assassin snails, but won't I just be replacing one lot of snails for another?
What would you add?

yoyo loaches and zebra loaches will do the trick and they stay small(about 3-4 inches)a group of 3 or 4 of these should be ok to add to your tank

Cut back on the feeding and the snail numbers will drop.
