I have seen 'unburst' bubbles & occassional 'foaming' of the surface water, can depend on what type of filter you are using, where the outflow is directed, etc.

Providing your water levels are within parameters I shouldn't worry (I know you just have strips at the mo, but if the Ammonia is rocketing you will smell it)

Regarding the water change, my moto is if in doubt do 20% certainly won't do any harm :)

They look like normal bubbles to me too - not the froth I thought you meant.
It is possible they have changed as the water level has dropped a fraction from what it was (evaporation etc). Doesn't take much!

Okay well I carried out a water change earlier and it has 100% improved :), Im a happy camper again
