Ammonia

Postby IndianoAnnie » Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:23 pm

Hi,
I have been carrying out water changes every day for about 6 days and I still can't seem to get my ammonia level lower than 0.25ppm, any advice?
Thanks,
Annie :)

Is it possibly your eyesight or the test kit? The colours can be very hard to read and perhaps the ammonia is barely negligible.
I assume you are using a good quality liquid kit?

Yeah it's a good kit, API liquid test kit. It just seems to have a slight tinge of green, yeah I agree they can be hard to read. Well i dono, I think I'll ask someone else's opinion on the colour next time I test and see if it is me ha ha.
Thanks,
Annie :)

Hey,
Ok might be a stupid question but have you tested your tap water? And also what percentage of water are you changing?

okay so i just tested my tank again and i also tested a sample of the tap water too, both turned out the same colour which suggests either its my eyes and theres no amonia or its the tap water, when my partner gets in i will ask him what colour the samples are hopefully its my eyes!
Thanks,
Annie :)

There have been a few reports on here of ammonia present in their tap water so may not be your eyes but the water from the tap.
