any crab keepers out there?

Postby hannibal1987 » Thu Nov 08, 2012 12:08 am

I've recently got into tropical fish, I have a 95l tank set up with 6 neons, 4 moscow blue guppies, 2 anticristus, 3 panda's, 2 glowlights, and 1 emerald catfish. everything is going well at the moment and I've become fascinated with the crabs at the lfs. when I've researched into them a bit more I've realised a specialist tank for crabs would be better than adding a couple to my tank. the fish being a bit too small to live with crabs, requiring brackish water and a land area etc.

I was thinking of getting a 45l tank, how many crabs would live in this tank?

I was going to use sand rather than gravel, I've found two types of sand, white and black, which would suits the crabs best?

think I know how to prepare the brackish water but does the water still need to cycle the same as with fish?

I was also thinking of filling the tank only 1/2 to 3/4 full, which is preferable?

I'm struggling to determine how to construct a land area for them. Does anyone have any pictures of their crab tanks for some examples? Any other tips are appreciated.

Thanks, H.
