In a mature tank cardinals are pretty hardy, but they aren't really tough little fish that I would want to add first. Neons are probably a bit better, but cardinals are a lot prettier.

Zebra plecs where banned from being exported due to declining numbers in their native waters, and I guess there are not many people successfully breeding them, so demand outstrips supply and hence the price goes up.

£19.99 is a bit of bargain considering the price now :wink: Most L nos seem pretty expensive, pity, I really want a goldy plec but it's £35 for a little juvie.

slightly off topic here (but similar sort of thing) My Ornate Bichir was £40 when i bought it (it was about 4-5" at the time)
