Fluval 405 external filter

Postby shambles » Mon Jul 16, 2012 7:02 pm

I am running a Fluval 405 external filter and recently it has been making some very strange noises and then air comes out of the spray bar :(

I have checked all the connectors and hoses and am at a loss as to how air could be getting in it :?

Any help or suggestions much appreciated x

I would try a new one of these.....

Only thing I have ever had to replace on my Fluvals (so far  )

You could also check the top is seated properly on its sealing gasket and that it isn't damaged?

i have a 405 and i would be checking that sealing ring is sat properly and not damaged.as a first port of call,as you said that you checked all the pipes and joints etc etc.....

good chance that it's the ring, allowing air in thru an insufficent seal.

at that price on the link it wont break the bank... 8)

worth a try,

good luck :)

Thanks everyone, I have tightened up the hoses on the inlet and outlet and all seems quiet for now. If it starts again I will get a new seal and hope that cures it x
