Thanks, I may just get rid of them, its a nightmare removing all the leaves!

I will probably get another piece of bogwood with some more anubis attached :)

Tested again this morning and ammonia is still 0.5 so not getting higher which is good but not going down :(

Counted all my fish and none have died somewhere causing it. I've dosed my last lot of protozin but don't know what to do with the ammonia? Do I do a 50% PWC and then add another 50% dose to reduce ammonia?

The fish seem OK apart from one neon hiding away and not swimming around very much.

I'd just use the Prime to get through it. It's difficult to know how a water change would affect the concentration of the Protozin. Its not an excessively high level of ammonia anyway and should be bound up by the Prime. (It doesn't get removed, just converted into some ammonium compound which is much less toxic than free ammonia).

If you see nitrite, add the tiny amount of salt - just one fifth of a teaspoon.

How are the spots doing? Clearing up? Does it look like you will need a repeat treatment?

I emailed waterlife today about it and they advised is doing a 20% water change just to dose for an extra day due to the reduced concentrate, so will just do my last dose tomorrow and do a little change tonight.

As for the spots, all is looking good! All the fish seem to be clear expect 1 spot on the loach so hopefully the last few swimming lot will be cleared up my the meds and thats it!

Although one of two of the tetras have what looks like a couple of nips in the tails. I presume its the danios being a hit hyper they are a little white at the ends too, would this just be them healing up? Really hope I dont get fin rot right after this

All is looking good! Been 48 hours since last dose and no sign of any spots!

Done my normal water change today and added some carbon to clear up the meds :)

Ive left my extra ceramic rings in, can I over fill my filter with media as ive got an extra 500g of ceramic rings in from what was in the filter from new?

Im noticing a lot of brown spots which I presume is algae on a lot of the decorations with a bit of "hair" like algae, is this normal?

Thanks for all your help!

Am I right in thinking you have got through this (touch wood, no more spots) without losing any fish?

You can put as much media in your filter as you like, the only danger is slowing the flow down so that it needs cleaning out more often.

The spots and hairs sound like algae. Now you are through the medication stage and you are getting into your water change schedule, you can clean it off but don't go mad and clean everything all at once. If it's on the live plants it's more awkward.

Yea so far, no more spots and no losses!

Ammonia seems to be hovering around 0.25 but im wondering if its a false reading as with water changes its not going down at all, but its not going up at all which is good!

Great result! Especially with clown loaches in a tank that's not mature.

I have no idea why you get these sticky ammonia readings with two test kits. Prime could mean your test kit shows a false high in terms of free ammonia, but the "bound" ammonia should get converted eventually and water changes should reduce everything.

Im so glad it cleared up. I will keep a close eye on the ammonia for a while.

All the fish look happy all feeding well, only ones looking a bit different are the cherry barbs, seem to spend a lot of time on there own mostly in the plants. I dont know if they are just sky but do come out to feed.
