New filter

Postby SparkyST » Thu Aug 02, 2012 7:30 pm

Hi have bought a new filter for my tank as the original one didn't seem to be up to the job.

Question is when is it safe to remove the old filter and just have the new filter?

I have both running at the moment, gave the old filter a squeeze into the new filter when I installed it. Water levels are all ok (finally) which is the reason for the new filter as was struggling to keep ammonia and nitrite at 0.

Minimum of 3/4 weeks if it were me.....

Assuming your original filter is fully cycled

Why not leave both running? It always pay to have a spare, cycled, filter on hand for emergencies.

I dont have the space as its only a 19litre tank. I have a fluval mini (new one) and the internal filter that came with the interpet Moondpod
