Fish Identification

Postby baldfeller » Sun Aug 12, 2012 11:03 pm

Hello all,
been lurking for a while and finding loads of useful info on the site and forum.
I am running a 100 ltr with 6 Platys in and a 50 ltr with some Tetras I just rescued from a friend who couldn't be bothered to care for them any more, everything in the tank was black with scum :( .
The Tetras where easy to Identify but one of the fish is proving difficult and I think it could well be pregnant, can anyone help with identification?

I love that it says "This photo was taken on December 31, 2050 using a Fujifilm FinePix S1500"! 8)
I am at work with a bad screen (poor colour) but wonder if that fish might be an egg laden female cherry barb.

Thanks Carylnz,
after further checking I think you're spot on, it was the only one of its type in the tank but there was a semi decayed fish stuck in one of the artificial plants which could well be the father.
As for the camera, it was a very early Christmas present
Thanks for your help, Mrs Baldfeller has now come over all maternal and will do her best to keep the fish happy.
