Please help, poorly black lace Angel - mass on fin base

Postby monkeymoo » Thu Aug 23, 2012 4:22 pm

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and would appreciate your thoughts on my black lace angel. She has had a mass on her left pectoral fin for a few months now, it started very small and has grown very slowly, it does not seem to impair her movement and it DEFINITELY hasn't affected her appetite!! I have listed the parameters at the time it appeared - the odd fish has passed from her original tank but probably just due to not being in great health from the word go, i.e. no signs of illness:

Tank size- 180L
Filtration type- (at time) 2x Fluval internal
Water- pH low, nitrate low, temp 25.5
Water change etc- n/a (done weekly at the time)
Tank decor- bog wood, 1 x croc skull resin
Fish stock- 1x silver dollar, 1x koohli loach, 2x female fighters, 2x angel, 2x bronze cory, 5x silver tip tetra, 1x fire tail, 1x male fighter
Invertebrates- 4x singapore flower shrimp
Biomass- yes

She is now isolated in a 90l, 1 x Fluval internal, sand bed, some biomass, no tank mates, has been dosed with both Myxazin and some medicine whose name escapes me, which got rid of some small white spots on her back but not the main mass. Last water change in the poorly tank was last Wednesday, levels are fine, sorry I don't have their full details at the moment.

I have attached some photos which hopefully help, it is sort of fluffy and started off white but now has a pink tinge. Any help / advice would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and here's hoping!! x

PS I do have pictures but I am struggling to upload them at the moment.... I realise how useful they are so I will keep on trying.

Hope you get the pics up as they would help.
It could be a secondary fungal infection on top of a wound.

Nope.... not working I'm sad to say... I have posted some pics on another site, is it possible please to put a link on? In fact if this is ok I will paste a link below, apologies in advance if it needs to be moderated / removed, I shall behave in future but I'm just so worried about her. Thank you x

I still think it is a secondary fungal infection on top of an old wound. You may find if you gently net the fish and rub or wipe carefully, the fluff may just drop off and the wound underneath will be healed. If not, you could treat it with an anti-fungal med.
