new dead fish

Get help on those urgent fishkeeping problems!

new dead fish

Hi,
Im pretty new to this as i only bought my first fish on friday (5danios) and everyting was fine, regularly testing the water and everything is fine, but I woke up this morning and found one dead :( ? Any ideas?

What are the exact readings for Ammonia, NitrIte & NitrAte?

You also do not know what has been happening to the fish before you got them home. One may have been stressed from being caught and did not recover, it may have been damaged while being caught, it may have been weak to start with, it may have been ill.
As fish have only been in the tank 3 days I would not expect to see much of anything in the water tests as yet.

The reason I was asking as I noticed in another thread that 'I added a weekly cleaner that just baisically said that it had micro organisms'

Sometimes these types of things can cause huge ammonia spikes

well at the moment im using the testing 6 in 1 strips and when I have tested they have shown the minimum reading

Just go careful with the testing strips, they are renowned for being inaccurate :wink:

A Liquid test kit is the way forward once you have used up all your strips
