Botia Loach Stuck in a Conch Shell

Postby J9P » Sun Sep 16, 2012 9:31 am

I have a Botia loach that appears to have got stuck inside a shell inside my tank. I can see it's tail drop down a bit every now and again but then it will disappear up into the shell. He wriggles for a bit then he is still for a bit then he wriggles again.

Any suggestions on how to help him get out without hurting him or stressing him out any more than he already is?

Thanks
Janine

Problem resolved. I carefully took the shell out of the tank in a jug of tank water and gradually turned the shell gently under the water until the loach was able to wriggle it's way out and then submerged the jug back into the tank so he could swim away. He seems to be happily swimming with the other loaches. The shell has gone in the bin!
