orange platty tail looks like its been nibbled

Postby crumblebum » Thu Nov 01, 2012 9:27 pm

i have a platty who's tail looks like it has been nibbled, i also have 8 other fish in my tank who all seem fine but one of the fish is a red tail shark that seems to enjoy chasing my platy around quite regularly but never any of the others.

my platy appears fine in its self swimming around quite happily and is eating well but has a tail that looks like it has been nibbled at. it does not look inflamed at all and all other fish appear in good health what could be the cause? could it be the shark picking on it and if so how could i sort it?

i am quite new to all this and would appreciate any advice.

It could be being nibbled and if there is no sign of infection it will grow back again.
Red tail sharks get very territorial as they age and more aggressive. They are a bit better in tanks 4ft or larger.
What other fish do you have?
