Hydrogen Peroxide

Postby jdt28 » Wed Nov 28, 2012 12:13 pm

I have a slight algae bloom in my cichlid aquarium.Has anyone ever used Hydrogen Peroxide as a cure, this has been recommended to me by other fish keepers but I am a little sceptical about putting this in with my fish.Any information/experiences with using this would be most welcome. :?:

You treat algae problems by reducing lighting duration, adding plant food for your aquarium plants and by regular water changes to reduce the nutrients that algae feed on. Also keep feeding to a minimum. Please don't put chemicals into your tank, it is a totally unnecessary quick fix to a problem that is easily prevented or controlled at the very the least by good practices and keeping a balanced setup.

What sort of algae and what set it off?
I know marine keepers use it to kill a specific problem in their tanks but have not heard of anyone using it on freshwater algae.
