Overrun with Cherry Shrimp

Postby SparkyST » Wed Apr 17, 2013 1:14 pm

Hi All

I am getting over run with cherry shrimp (breeding like mad) my local LFS who sold them to me advised that with the tetras I have they should keep the population under control, however the tetras dont seem interested at all in the shrimp offspring. Is there a peaceful community fish that would be suited to a tetra inhabited tank that may help to control them?

The tank has plenty of hiding places for any baby shrimp that do want to stay out of harms way.

Me! ME! MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, I live in another country and they are illegal here :(

You could always fish them out and throw them on the compost.
Advertise them for sale locally.

How would they be with crabs in a community tank.

I doubt it Carolann, unless the Shrimps are larger than the crabs, which is very unlikely. Unfortunately they would just become a snack
