Silver Dollar Tails Eaten by?

Postby liverpool » Wed Sep 02, 2015 9:25 pm

Hi Everyone long time since my last post hope everyone is ok. Quick question for you guys out there, I've got 5 silver dollars had for 4 month now but 2 are missing nearly all their tail and a third just over half. The fish are happy swimming around in a group and feed as normal and I've not noticed any harressment from other fish. Any ideas or can you maybe identify the culprits?

Silver dollars will nip at tails and also eat a lot. They apparently get nippier if they are hungry.
Angels also nip fins.
Fish wait until you are not looking before they attack ;-)
Have you looked closely to check they have not got some sort of disease or infection?
I am surprised at the types of fish you have in there together as they vary greatly in adult size and speed so I wonder of all will manage to get enough food.
Is this a planted tank? Most of those fish prefer a well planted tank but silver dollars will eat all plants.
