Its been awhile....

Postby jzaine » Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:30 am

Hey all,
it really has been awhile. My last post was in November a day or two after Sandy. I spent the better part of that month in Seaside Heights with my cousin helping clean up. The devastation was heartbreaking. To see a town I have visited since I was a kid gone in an instant was sad.

Nearly 5 months later and the shore still isn't back to its former glory. The roller coaster in the sea is set to be demolished by memorial day.
I am sure everyone has heard about the bombings in Boston. I came across this video tonight and I thought I would share it. It is one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen. Enjoy.

I hope all is well with everyone.

I didn't want to create a new topic for this. This is amazing to watch. Sandy couldn't break the spirit of seaside heights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovliNBw ... ata_player

I remember being curious, as a child, as to what a boardwalk was when I heard the song Under The Boardwalk. Now I see it is required because people have built their buildings too close to the beach. 8)

That is partly true. Some beaches along the Jersey shore are shorter than others. The boardwalk in Wildwood, for example, was built to create a business district where it would be too expensive to build a road (on the beach). 90% of the time I go down the shore it's to the Wildwoods. Their beaches are really long. They suffered minimal damage from Sandy. Their beaches are long enough that concers are often held on the beach. Wildwood Days by Bobby Rydell is about that city.
