Endler's Livebearers

Postby Portland Bill » Sun Oct 14, 2007 11:14 am

Hi all,

I got some Endler's Livebearers yesterday and the kid supposedly gave me 4 males and 1 female. I'm not convinced. I think he' sgiven me 4 males and 1 Tetra. The "female" looks absolutely nothing like the males at all. It just looks like a reddy brown colour tetra with no distinguishing flash.

Does anyone know if this sounds about right or does anyone have any pics of what a female Endler's Livebearer should look like?

Cheers

Yeah I've googled them but the info isn't that specific. It usually just shows nice brightly coloured ones but doesn't explain if they're male or female.

There's a picture of a male and a female here. Don't know if it'll help :?

If you HAVE managed to get hold of a female Endler...which I don't think you have...then you're very lucky because they're still exceedingly rare in this country. However if you had just got one female and four males it would probably be harassed to death by the males anyway. Sorry about that. :?

Problem sorted, it was a bronze Tetra or something along those lines. Just a small one that doesn't grow very big.

The guy at Pets At Home (I don't usually get my fish from there, they were the only shop that had Endler's) apologised and said they only have male Endler's and the kid should have known that. I've been down and taken the poor tetra back coz I think it was getting bullied by my glowlights a bit and he gave me two more Endler's to replace the Tetra and one of my tiny little Endler's which has completely vanished out of the tank along with one of my ghost shrimp it would appear.

Who knows!?!?!

Corys prefer to be in groups of at least four by the way... :D

I'll try and get a couple more then to keep them happy. Do they have to be the same variety?
