Starting fish...

Postby goldy1990 » Wed Nov 30, 2011 6:49 am

I'm still around 2 weeks away from adding fish to my 48l tank. My plan is for 2 platy's, 2 guppies and 5 neon tetra's, obviously not all at once, I was wondering is this a good combination and a suitable amount for the tank or?

Thanks

Hi Mate,

in cases of combination they should get along fine, in cases of stocking it sounds about right for the tank size, you may be able to strech too 2 or 3 more little fish

Many thanks, i expect to have all the fish sorted by March, depending on how things go.. if i did decide to get more than above, i'd probably go with more neon tetra's as ive always liked them

It would be a good idea to add neon tetra's because they prefer to be in bigger groups.

Well i finally had a chance to get myself to the fish store to have a look, while they didn't have any platy's this is what i was thinking..

2 guppies
2 balloon molley's
5 neon tetra's

now there was an amazing fighting fish (purple colour) but i have read that they could be a problem for the guppies and the neon tetra's, does this apply to both male and female breeds of the fighting fish?
