male platy behaviour

Postby jennifer o » Thu Jan 05, 2012 8:02 pm

ive got 3 guppys 1 male and two female, and 3 male platies and 6 female platies (ive had the platies since they were fry)

2 of the males have started to act quite strange.

they chase each other about a bit but theyve also started doing these weird syncronised movements like bending their bodies in a kind of s shape, both at the same time heads up to the sky , the full length of the tank, before having another chasing session.

is this playing? fighting? they are about 5 months old now

i must admit its very interesting to watch
200l tank - 6 black phantom tetras, 1 golden chinese algae eaters, 2 pleco, 5 harlequin rasboras, 5 platys, 2 silver mollies, 3 panda corys

80l tank - 3 platys, 1 guppy, 4 neon tetras, 2 red honey gouramis

still learning
