shark fish suggestions pls

Postby cheapchickens » Fri Apr 06, 2012 10:09 pm

Hi I'm thinking of getting a shark fish soon (i know not real sharks lol) was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what type i could get. I have 350L tank with neon tetras, black widow tetras, mickey mouse platys male guppies clown loach and german blue rams. I was ideally thinkin of something other than balas due to their size and shoal. And maybe something other than red tail or rainbow. I'm not opposed to catfish. All suggestions welcome
thanks

Hi there,

I have a ruby shark in my 150 litre tank and he is getting on fine. There are two varieties as far as i am aware. The one i have is black with red fins. But there is also an albino ruby shark which is white with orange/red fins. They grow to around 15 cm and should be kept alone (just one of them per tank). I have read they can become quite aggressive and territorial as they age but i have had no problems as yet. They are pretty common in the aquatic shops around my area so i imagine you would have no problem picking one up!
