Is this how Onion snails mate?

Postby Rick » Tue Apr 10, 2012 12:20 pm

Went to turn the light on on my nano tank this morning and saw both my "Red Onion" snails burrowed in the substrate next to each other :?:

I've had them for a couple of months and never seen them do this before. I know that with them being Nerites the chances of any baby snails are extremely unlikey with being in fresh water, rather than brackish, but just curious as to what they are doing. Never seen either of them burrow before

3 Male Guppies, 8 Neon Tetras, 6 Harlies, 6 Ember Tetra, 16 Cory's (Pandas,Albinos,Sterbais,Green/Orange,Julii),
5 Amano Shrimp & 40+ RCS
3 Scarlet Badis, 3 bristlenose
Pair of Apisto Borelli

and outside of the tank...
1 German Shepherd :)

How interesting! I have never heard of onion snails so look forward to future reports if anything came of this behaviour.
