What on earth should i add!

Postby J.abbott » Wed May 16, 2012 12:24 pm

RIght i have a juwel rio 125l
external filtration ( EX 700 plus carbon)
quite good planting ( lots of crypts some vallis some java fern and some anubias)
Also a big bogwood arch
All my tests come out fine, ammonia nitrate nitrite all 0 or as close as makes no difference.
Ph is 7
i currently have 2 rainbow cichlids a krib and a bristlenose, they all get along fine with the krib being a little boisterous.
I am trying to think of a good school of fish to add maybe some form of barb ( rosys are looking good)
are there any other schooling fish you'd recomend instead?

Sme barbs can nibble the plants. You might also consider various tetras or rasboras as schooling fish.

Win for me, and ill definately buy my serpaes there too thier fish are so healthy ( despite being a crumby looking shop

I would suggest sticking to one species, rather than two. A large school of black widows looks stunning! They shoal better in a larger group too.
Here is a shoal of about 16 in our local Hospice tank. The pic does not do them justice...

Well done on the freebies  Sometimes the grottiest looking places are the best to go to :)
I agree with Caryl about just having the one species. Black Widows are stunning in a large group, plus Serpaes can be a bit nippy, especially if you have a few Widows with longer fins :?
All the advice I give is based on my own personal 30 years of experience.

Yeah, stickig to one species is probably the best plan, and i suppose if i add another 5 or 6 i can get a couple of corys without pushing the limit for the tank
