Newbie to site

Postby devilswater » Sun Oct 21, 2012 9:39 pm

Hi ladies and gentlemen, my name is Dan and I've just joined the community. Have had fish on and off for the last 20 years but am just getting back into it again after a few years off. I've had my tank up and running for about 8 months and will hopefully get a few pics up as and when I can. Looking forward to speaking to you all at some stage and picking your brains for any hints and tips. :D

Looking very well planted 8)
I suspect the varigated plant front centre is not aquatic and will die.
The red plant will need a lot of light to stay that bright colour too.
Ambulia and cabomba are two plants that do not do well in my tank

Bit of cheating going on. The plants at the front ie the variagated and red one are plastic. I've used a few plastic ones just for the effect. Lots of elodea and cambomba for oxygen and height at the back. Quite pleased with how it looks but may do a change around. Have always liked the look of a well planted aquarium.

After looking more closely, I assume the variegated one is actually green with a healthy growth of black beard algae around the edges? The red looks realistic!
