A number of the rainbow species, like the Boesemani, or some gouramis immediately come to mind.

Those called pearl, orange or lace would be good. Avoid 3 spot or blue as they tend to be nasty. Don't get kissing gourami either as they are too big.

the bosemanis will set ya tank off a treat....i love mine....

if you go to a shop they will look dull and washed out, virtually no colour......but get em home in a nice tank, with open swimming spaces and plants cover and you will see them colour up lovely, the colours develop more as they get settled.

i also have lake katubu ( green/blue) rainbows.....so nice

the pearl gourami is another stunning fish,as long as they can reach the surface to gulp air they will be great..

cheers for your reply ady.

i went down to a few of my lfs and a pair of moonlight gouramis caught my eye, i came home read up about them and they seem ideal for my setup so been back and got them.
well chuffed with them, and they seem to have settled straight in, thanks Carylnz for sending me down that route
