is a fighter fish suitable for my tank??

always liked looking at them at the fish stores but dont know much about them i do know you should only have one and think i may have read not to have other fish with big tails as they may mistake them for there own so that rules out guppys etc?? am i right?.. in the tank i would put it in has 2 gourami 4 x ray tetra's will be 8 ) and 4 mollys, is my tank suitable thanks

Sorry Chopper, I've only just seen this :oops:

Bettas (Fighters) and Gourami are from the same family and are really not suitable to live together - they will actually fight/harass to the death :shock:
All the advice I give is based on my own personal 30 years of experience.

Agreed! I did just that and after a trip to another lfs today I could be doing it all over again! They are great little fish, everybody should have one (or two!)

I have 1 of these, he is a right stroppy little bugger. Always having a go at the other fish. I have some silver hatchetfish that get the most grief from him, but he also goes for the red nosed tetras, & my 2 plecos. 1 of the plecos runs away, the other 1 is bigger & older & doesnt take a blind bit of notice.

Talking of taking no notice, I also have some dwarf frogs. He was busy flaring up at 1 of those the other day, in fact he did it for about 20 mins. It was hilarious, these frogs are practially blind, & the frog took no notice whatsoever
