South American Tank... Any advice

Postby domseraph » Mon Jun 25, 2007 12:46 pm

Hi guys and girls, I'm hoping i can get some advice...
I'm just cycling my new Juwel Vision 260, and i've decided i'm going to make it a dedicated south american tank.

Now i currently have a Gold Severum, a pictus catfish, and a blood parrot (not technically a south american cichlid i know...) and i'm looking for ideas on tankmates for my little friends.

Any ideas, greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Dom

Sorry to be a pain, but i'd also like to know what type of plants would be best for a south american style tank? Particularly taller plants to fill out the back/right hand side of my tank.

I'm intending to have the right hand side of the tank to be densely planted to provide hiding area for the fish, and the left hand side to be sparsely planted with low level plants, bogwood, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as i've never really planted up my previous tanks.

Cheers. Dom

Severum like munching on plants unfortunately. You might get away with java fern or anubias tied to bogwood, or try some artificial plants instead
