Filter media

Postby ChrisJ95 » Sun Oct 14, 2012 12:35 am

Hi folks,
Having had my tank not set up too long I thought it better now than later to make decisions on what filter media I should stick with.
I have an internal canister filter with two baskets in (one containing ceramic balls and one conntaining carbon) and a layer of foam. I have been given some synthetic filter wool, and was wondering whether it would be a good idea to take half of the carbon out of the top basket and replace that half with the wool, just to add a bit extra mechanical filtratiln.
Any advice and experience will be useful, I'm sure you can all appreciate my quest for crystal-clear tank water :D

Personally I would take all the carbon out and fill it up with the wool :)

Unless you are using the Carbon for any specific reason

Thanks for the reply :)
I think I will do what you said soon, just put a bit of wool in this morning and already cleared up most of the floating dusty looking crap, will give it until next week as the bogwood I put in seems to be leaching tannins into the water.
