easycarbo....needed for low light set-up ???

Postby ady » Tue Jan 08, 2013 2:18 pm

hi....as i'm in the middle of adding loads of plants to my tank...i was looking into getting some easycarbo.

my question is it is really of benefit in a low light set up...or should i wait until i get my new tank, with more intense light ??

dont wanna waste my money on it if no benefit at the moment..

just tied on my new java moss portion....got java ferns and cryptocoryne x willisii on the way as we speak.

other plants are anubias, anubias nana, amazon swords....

cheers

I found it helpful with low light. I also used the fertiliser. I didn't necessarily dose fert as often as recommended, but without Easycarbo I get algae.

is it the same as adding co2,i mean do you have to turn off any air pumps to stop the co2 being driven off ??

I don't think you have to with easycarbo, but it's not something I have considered as I just have my filter breaking the urface rather than bubbly water.

Its the same as Flourish Excel. Its not actually co2 as such. Its a liquid form of carbon. As long as you dose to the guidelines there should be no harm to fish or shrimps. Can melt vallis by all accounts but that isn't a given.

thanks...

kinda thought it cant be true co2 coz everytime you open the bottle it would vent off....

just a carbon source then really, but still does the trick ....using just a generic liquid fert at the mo.i'm gonna get
some plant tabs to feed the new planting, especially the amazons....then will get some more better liquid fert and carbo
to make the plants flourish ( excuse the pun  )

what ferts do people recommend ?......some are with/without phosphate nitrates.which should be provided by fish and food waste..some got them in ??.....
