Tank upgrade time

Postby SparkyST » Sun May 11, 2014 7:17 pm

Hi all

I have had the go ahead from the wife to be able to upgrade our 80L tank to a 300L tank. My question is what larger fish will get along peacefully with our tetras as we dont want to get rid of them

That may help. I have a mixture of Neon's glowlight and black neons plus a BN and a large population of cherry shrimp which I am hoping the larger fish will keep under control.

As they are not in my country, I can't advise regarding the cherry shrimp but pearl, gold or lace gouramis come to mind, as do keyhole cichlids. Boesemani and neon rainbows or congo tetras would also be worth considering.

It is a bit hard for me to offer specifics as the fish we have available here differ from what you can get.

All very helpful, I do rather like the Boesemani they look amazing.

I should be getting the tank this weekend and the plan is to run my old filter alongside the new filter. 2 weeks in June I am off on Honeymoon so wont stock until I get back to give the tank time to settle with the neon tetras etc I will e transferring over

Tank is all set up and fish seem happy so far, bought a larger fluval 306 filter and used the media from the 206 so hopefully it wont cycle again.

Another question though, any suggestions on led lighting for the tank that will still let the plants grow?

I am afraid I know nothing about LED lighting :?
It is now used a lot in aquaria but what different types to use I don't know.
