Get help on those urgent fishkeeping problems!

any ideas on stuff i could feed my 4inch polypterus? It eats tropical pellets and blood worms at the moment, i was just hoping for any ideas on other stuff i could feed it.

Hi,

In addition to the bloodworm, you could try krill if your local fish store has this in frozen form. It's a reasonable size for them, whereas some frozen foods like daphnia are just too small.

You could also chop up larger meaty foods like mussel, prawn or whitebait/lancefish into bite-sized pieces. Again, some fish stores carry these - if not you could get them at the supermarket.

It's good that you've already got it eating dry food too, as that helps to round out the diet and I've never had any problem getting any species of Polypterus to eat various pellets, etc.

If you can rotate between 3-4 frozen foods and 1-2 different types of pellet that's usually enough to give them a good varied diet.
