|
|
I have 6 Pseudotropheus saulosi and 2 of them are changing colour.
1 has turned a pinky colour. This 1 hides away most of the time although it is larger than the others. It eats ok coming out to meet me when ever I open the lid of the tank.
1 has turned a greenish colour with a nice black stripe along its dorsal fin. This greenish colour is all over not in bars.
Should I be worried. _________________ stuart

So from reading that, it lookslike the 1 turning a greenish colour is normal. A male more than likely. The pinky coloured 1, I can't find any reference about at all. Maybe its a semi albino. _________________ stuart

maybe but i think you should just give it some time because you never know whats going to happen and thats the brillant part about cichlids If you could post some pics of your fish you could track what colour changes happen and might be useful for other members later on. |

Sometimes females can go quite dark, which can look green, when they're stressed or feel threatened by other fish.
I've never seen any of my fry that are males go green, they simply develop the blue bars, and then turn blue all over. _________________ Alistair

It could be that there has been a bit of cross breeding going on from the parents, the 2 in the last pic look a little pale, normally they are a darker yellow (nearly orange) are they being picked on by any of the others?
These were my Saulosi (male bottom left, dominent male top right, 2 females in the middle)

This is pinky as you can see she is a lovely colour. This pic was taken without the camera flash, where the others I used the flash which could be why they look yellower than normal. In normal lighting they are a more orangey colour. She isn't being harrassed anymore than the others by the dominant female. Even then I wouldn't call it be harrassed as the dominant fish only chases the other away if they invade her space or cave. _________________ stuart

That looks like a red zebra to me. They quite often have the blueish hue to the dorsal fin and orange flecks around the fins, like mine do.
This is just a photo from the internet of a red zebra, but it looks pretty much like your one there.

I think I will give up with what they are and just enjoy them. _________________ stuart
