Size:Up to 12" (30cm)
Origin:Asia: India to Indonesia and New Guinea.
Tank setup:A large tank with open swimming space, subdued lighting.
Compatibility:Predatory, will eat smaller fish. Peaceful with other large fish.
Temperature:22-26oC (72-79oF)
Water chemistry:Maintain in brackish conditions or medium hard and alkaline freshwater.
Feeding:A predator, but can be easily weaned onto dead meaty foods such as whitebait, cockles, mussels and prawns. Bloodworm and brine shrimp are suitable for juvenile fish.
Sexing:Unknown

Comments: One of the more commonly available Datnioides species, these fish require very good water quality. The species name can be somewhat misleading, as there are usually more than four bars on the body in total; partial bars are often present.
