| Water chemistry: | Slightly acidic (pH 6.0-7.0), soft to medium hard water. |
| Feeding: | Omnivorous: most foods accepted. |
| Sexing: | The male is noticeably larger and has extended dorsal and anal fins. |
| Breeding: | One of the easiest cichlids to breed, the parents will spawn regularly if good water quality
is maintained. Eggs are laid on a pre-cleaned stone and guarded by the parents, who also tend the fry. |
